Sir David Attenborough yesterday urged green campaigners to keep tabs on environmental damage by using the Google Earth website.
The wildlife TV presenter called the satellite mapping site a "weapon of unparalleled value" in protecting the world.
Sir David added: "Google can take us to the Amazon rainforest and you can see on your screen where it is being destroyed.
"Now we don't have to rely on the soft and deceiving words of politicians."

He was speaking in London at the UK launch of Google Earth Outreach, a programme to help charities. Standing alongside him was an Amazonian tribal chief whose land is under threat.
US Green groups blocked logging by pinpointing threatened areas of forest on the site.
